Recent development of transboundary movements of wastes have necessitated careful control and accumulation of statistical data for exporting and importing wastes. Korea Basel Forum Incorporated Association aims to construct domestic and foreign network for industry-university-institute and public-private organizations to share information, and function as a window to represent private organization on Basel Convention in South Korea by collecting and exchanging domestic and foreign information which is related to Basel Convention.

Basel Convention, an international agreement for the control of transboundary movements of hazardous wastes, was adopted on 22 March 1989 in Basel, Switzerland, and the Republic of Korea entered into force on May 1994.

Korea Basel Forum continues to accumulate Basel Convention related data and provide needed materials for major decisions of Working Group of the Basel Convention. In addition, we will hold domestic Korea Basel Forum seminar to report conference agenda of Basel Convention and international conditions.

The seminar aims to exchange information and education & training of details of the Basel Convention including a model of transboundary movements and control of exporting and importing wastes. We also collaborate with export & import companies of waste resources.

Internationally hazards of wastes is being actively discussed. At this point, the most important thing is continuity and professionalism. We ask all the members of Forum for active participation and continuing cooperation for the stable development of Korea Basel Forum.

수출입 폐기물의 통계자료 축적에도 세심한 신경을 써야 할 것입니다. (사)한국바젤포럼은 바젤협약(Basel Convention)과 관련한
국내·외 정보를 수집하고 교환함으로서 산·학·연, 정부 및 민간 각계가 정보를 공유할 수 있는 국내·외 인적네트워크를 구축하고 바젤협약에 대응하는
대한민국의 민간단체 대표창구역할을 수행하고자 설립하였습니다.

바젤협약은 유해폐기물의 국가 간 이동 규제에 관한 국제 협약으로 스위스 바젤에서 1989년 3월 채택되었으며 대한민국은 1994년 5월 바젤협약을 발효하였습니다.
한국바젤포럼에서는 바젤협약에 대한 자료를 지속적으로 축적할 예정이며, 바젤협약 Working Group의 주요결정사항에 필요한 자료를 제공하고자 합니다. 또한, 바젤협약 회의 내용과 국제적 상황에 대하여 매년 국내 한국바젤포럼 세미나를 개최하고자 합니다.

이 세미나에서는 수출입 폐기물의 국가 간 이동 및 관리에 관한 모델 등을 포함한 바젤협약 내용에 대한 정보교환과 교육 훈련을 실시할 것입니다.
그리고 국내 폐자원 수출입 관련업체에 대한 애로점과 문제점을 파악하여 대한민국의 이익을 위하여 개선할 수 있는 방안을 관련업체와 같이 노력할 것 입니다.
국제적으로 폐기물의 유해성에 대한 논의가 활발하게 진행되고 있는 시점에서 한국바젤포럼에서 가장 중요한 것은 지속성과 전문성이라고 생각합니다.
본 포럼이 기초를 다지면서 안정적으로 발전하기 위해서는 회원들의 적극적인 참여와 지속적인 협력을 기대합니다.
